You all have been hearing about our trials and tribulations for almost a year now......
Nick developed a gangrene infection from a dose of medication the dialysis center gave him that he was allergic to - and for several months - he battled it bravely! I almost lost him in June - he went into the ICU and was unresponsive for awhile - then suddenly - he came back to me!
He fought some more - but by August, it was clear that the leg had to be amputated. They did the surgery on August 24, 2012 - and He again went to the ICU - was not sure for about 4 days if I was going to get him back again!
He went into a rehab center after that - and finally came home after 6 months on October 1st - he had been in a couple of different hospitals and rehab centers since March -
and here he is today!
He has been fitting with his new leg and we are on the road to learning to walk all over again!
It's scary and exciting at the same time! Thank you to all my friends who hung in there with me and kept me sane through all this!
